Don't let this moment pass

The following heartfelt plea comes from a member of the Christians Together website.

LetterI am writing this on 23rd March 2019.  It has become very apparent to me that a ripple of total dismay has gone through this nation.  They feel betrayed.  But more than that, there is a horror of what is appearing as the defeat of Truth.  An overturning of democracy.

It is only partly to do with Brexit.  There is a dawning realisation that you cannot believe anything anymore.  Politicians have been lying through their teeth.  News channels and social media are no longer reporting the Truth.  Churches no longer uphold the laws of the God they claim to serve.  There is a feeling that the People are defenceless sheep being herded by faceless bankers and bureaucrats.  They are like sheep without a shepherd.

We must cry out to God, our Father, to give us a voice and to thrust forth labourers into the harvest, for the harvest is great.

We must not let ourselves get too side-tracked by our own political opinions.  We must be about our Father's business.

I have seen Christians trying to explain things with references to Illuminati, Financiers, Conspirators in Brussels, the anitchrist...all sorts.

Please, brothers and sisters, we have got to stop following our own theories and start, as publicly as possible, showing ourselves as children of our Heavenly Father.  I am reminded of the story, true or not I don't know, about the tightrope walker who was walking across the Niagara Falls on his rope.  He then took a wheelbarrow and walked it across the rope.  Then he asked for a volunteer to sit in the barrow as he walked it across one more time.  One small boy stood forward and got in the barrow.  Well, I'm sure you know the story!  That boy was his son.

This is the time, children of the Father, to stand forward and put your lives on the line for God, in showing forth, and I mean showing forth, our complete trust in our Father's plans for this nation.  Trust Him in front of everyone.  Get in the barrow to say we know His plans can be trusted.

We need to get into the Scriptures too, particularly concerning how God uses not only the good, but also the evil intentions and plans of men for His own purposes.

There is much in the Bible that we don't like, and as Oswald Chamberes once said, too many Christians lurk in Jesus' bosom because His thoughts give them a headache!  Ain't that the truth!  All those of us who are able, must get into those really heavy scriptures to get an understanding of our Father and how He works.

I am not talking about "trust God to bring Brexit about".  Nor am I talking about "trust God to make my own ideas and plans come about".  This is serious now.  Leave it all out.  I personally would like to think that God will take us out of Europe, but He might not.  We must understand that the evil we see in Europe is already here in Britain!  Coming out of Europe will not solve that.  This present crisis may have been brought about by our Father.  There could be a far more serious thing going on here, which our Father is orchestrating.

.The bible tells us with all your 'getting', "get understanding" (Prov 4:7)  Do you get it?

I spend a fair amount of time on social media, and many of my connections are not Christians.  As I say, there is a ripple of dismay going through people right now.  They feel that evil and lies are wining.  What has been going on, seeping into our society over decades is suddenly hitting them.  They feel that there is no defender, no one to stand up against the wolves.  Those that have a belief in God feel that He is not interested and He is letting it all happen, and that evil is king!

What the bible teaches us about God and about how He works, is a wonder and a marvel.  It takes my breath away!  We have so much left inside us that is not of God.  We have thoughts and ideas which are not true, not of God, but we were sort of born with them and we think they are Christian ideas.  And the bible goes cross-grain against those ideas.  Just some bible verses to show you what I mean:

"...it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog".  This verse from Ezekiel 38 has always been a wonder to me.  It's not saying that Gog will come against Israel and God will smash him down.  It is saying "Gog, you think you have evil plans against my people, and you think you will bring those plans to pass by your own wisdom and power, and you think you will cause my Name to be dishonoured, but you see, I already thought it up, before you ever appeared on the scene.  I am the one who will bring you against my people.  I will use your evil intent.  I have already made your evil intent my own intent and wrapped it up in my own plans which are for the good of my people, and I will be known as holy through your actions"

This is so contrary to the reasoning of even a good human being.  We cannot grasp the kind of power that God has.  Or comprehend His wisdom.  Our natural selves think that God must always zap down evil and raise up the good, never letting the good be done down.  "But we have the Mind of Christ".  We must learn to think in the Mind of Messiah.  It is not always comfortable.  We often wish the Mind of Christ was different - more in accordance with the ways we would like things to go.

Two more verses:

"I also will choose their delusions"  Isaiah 66:4  complimented by "God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie"  2 Thessalonians 2:11.  How could God allow this?  He is a God of Truth!  Sometimes we mistakenly think that God is the God of good people and the God of holy angels.  But that is not the case.  God is God.  God is the God of ALL!  He is above all.  His ways are past finding out.  He is the God of good people and angels, but also the God of evil people and angels.  The angels that fell did not fall out of the Will of God, but rather they fell on the wrong side of it.  They fell into delusion and God sealed them up in that delusion. And:

"If a trumpet sounds in a city, will the people not tremble? If calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?"  Amos 3:6

This is borne out by the following:  "Judgement must begin at the House of God"  (1 Peter 4:14; see also Ezekiel 8 through to 9:6).  Church, know that we are all one in Jesus.  Unfortunately, we are also one in the things we have done wrong.  It is not the Catholics, the Protestants, the Reform, the Pentecostals, the Methodists or the Brethren.  It is me Oh Lord "standing in the need of prayer".  The Church of God MUST repent.  We have all sinned and we need to cry out to God to show us our sins.  We need to cry out saying: "Father don't, please don't choose our delusions, but expose them so we may repent".  And one of our delusions as Christians is that someone else is more to blame than us.  If God does not show us our sins and expose our delusions, then how can the Blood of Jesus cleanse us?

God has revealed scandal after scandal, sin after sin, apostasy after apostasy, in all the churches and still we refuse to repent! But, still He is our Father and if we repent I believe He will cleanse us and pour out His Spirit on us.  He loves us.  And when we have turned again He will give us the faith and trust in Him we need, to be a witness to others.

We know God is going to let all kinds of awful things happen in the world.  "...nothing will be witheld from them, which they have imagined to do."  Genesis 11:6  If His power was limited He could not do that.  But His power is beyond the comprehension not only of humans, but apparently of angels!  His plans are vast and everything is included in them.  He takes evil and despite itself it is woven into His design whether it likes it or not.

We need to contemplate these things and "get understanding with all our getting".  That will lead to perfect trust in Him and how He does things.  It will lead to perfect trust in His character.  We know He has good things in mind for our future.  We need to get in that barrow and let Him wheel us across the Niagara Falls, publicly.  That little boy did not just say to his father in private: "Dad I trust you, and I know you could get me safely across on the tightrope".  He trusted his father in public, before a crowd.

Right now, Britain needs our witness.  The people need to see our trust in our Heavenly Father.
