A 'Covenant Call' to a Solemn Assembly
A Scottish pastor has felt a prompt from the Lord to cry out to Him on the anniversary of a highly-significant moment in the history of the Christian church in Scotland.
 IN 1638 believers in Scotland signed a 'National Covenant' declaring their allegiance to God in the face of King Charles I's attempt to impose Anglican ordinances on the post-Reformation Scottish Presbyterian church which was founded in the mid-16th century. Many of the Covenanters were subsequently martyred for their defiance of the King and his emissary Archbishop Laud
On the anniversary of the signing, Scottish pastor Arthur O' Malley is calling Christians to first meet at Greyfriar's kirkyard in Edinburgh where the Covenant was declared and then, as a 'Solemn Assembly', to proceed down to the city's World Heritage Grassmarket where a number of the signatories were subsequently martyred.

For those unable to attend the actual event in person, a number of Scottish networks have joined together to host an online (Zoom) prayer event commencing at 12 noon (initially for one hour) on 26 February. All those with a heart to pray for Scotland irrespective of nationality or geographic location are cordially invited. (See World Time Clock for countries outside of the UK.)

Pastor Arthur O'Malley leads the East Gate Church at Elderslie. He was one of the 27 signatories who took successful legal action against the Scottish Government over the Government's closure of churches in Scotland while other premises were allowed to open.
