Wilberforce Academy: a great opportunity

Christian Concern is inviting applications from Christian students and young professionals with a passion to serve Jesus Christ in a range of fields including law, politics, education, media, arts and business to a week-long Wilberforce Academy.

Wilberforce Academy1In a climate where Christian values and traditions are under increasing attack Christian Concern and the Wilberforce Academy are offering an opportunity to Christian young people to join with others who have a similar desire to bring their faith into their places of work and influence.

Christians Together spoke with Annabel Wilkenson from Southampton who was part of the 80-plus group of delegates which took part in the first UK-based Wilberforce Academy in the Spring of 2010.

Exeter College OxfordThe Academy will take place at Exeter College, Oxford. The college in the centre of the renowned University City and provides excellent facilities for the event.

Delegates gather for a full week of teaching, worship and fellowship and leave better equipped to engage in the public square and to proclaim the truth of the gospel to the whole of society.
The speakers, gathered from different parts of the world, speak on a range of different issues, such as the need to protect life, promote marriage and the family and proclaim Jesus freely within the culture.

Christian Concern to provide bursaries to cover the full cost of the Academy (including accommodation and meals) for all delegates.

Following the Academy, delegates will also be eligible to apply for a limited number of internships, providing the opportunity to work alongside experienced Christians in different areas of public life, during the summer of  2011.

Deadline for 2011 Wilbeforce Academy applications is 21 January, 2011
