Regime Change, Hegelian Dialectic and Thucydides Trap
As the two major geopolitical systems of our world move head to head, the stage is set for an utterly new paradigm.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying ,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. (Psalm 2:1 - 6)
WE have a friend who loves her dog(s), and she has a schema to lessen the sadness at the inevitable loss of a aged pet. When the current pouch is getting on in years, Moira acquires a puppy before the former makes that last trip to the vet.
On one occasion she was working in the kitchen when a furious canine row broke out in the living room. Rushing through she found her younger dog who had, until then, been the best of pals with his much older buddy, now occupying centre stage in the lounge while poor elderly Struan was holed up in a corner of the room.
A regime change, albeit at a domestic and canine level, had taken place. The ‘puppy’ was now top dog. While the build-up to the event took several years the anticipated moment in terms of exact timing was unpredicable. It was an outworking of an all-too-common scenario: a scenario which is very evident as we move onward in 2026.
The American political scientist Graham T. Allison coined the term ‘Thucydides Trap’ to describe an apparent tendency towards war when an emerging power threatens to displace an existing great power as a regional or international hegemon.
Thucydides has been called the father of the school of political realism which views the political behaviour of individuals and the subsequent outcomes of relations between states as ultimately mediated by, and constructed upon, fear and self-interest. His History of the Peloponnesian War recounts the fifth-century BC war between Sparta and Athens, when the intervention of the Persian Empire in support of Sparta allowed the coalition to decisively defeat Athens, beginning a period of Spartan hegemony over Greece.
" Of historical instances of an emerging power rivalling a ruling power, twelve ended in war
The term which exploded in popularity in 2015 primarily applied to an analysis of China–United States relations. Today we are seeing China powering ahead in terms of economic growth, political influence, military might, and geographic span. The country, along with Russia, India and the other partners is a major player in the BRICS coalition which is now, in terms of international trade, a viable alternative to the mighty US dollar.
The Thucydides Trap scenario is all too evident. Supporting the thesis, Allison led a study at Harvard University which found that, among a sample of 16 historical instances of an emerging power rivalling a ruling power, 12 ended in war. A common view is that sooner or later China will attack Taiwan but with world events elsewhere spiralling out of control the potential for a geopolitical earthquake is multi-faceted.
But to read Thucydides carefully is to see that the Peloponnesian War was not solely about a shifting balance of power. It was also about pride, misjudgment and the failure to lead wisely.
Seen in this light, the real lesson of Thucydides is not that war is preordained, but that it becomes more likely when nations allow fear to cloud reason, when leaders mistake posturing for prudence and when strategic decisions are driven by insecurity rather than clarity.
Babylon 2.0
However, there is a humungous regime change in the offing. The preparatory work is now well underway; indeed, it is hiding in plain sight. The ambitions are defined in Agenda 2030. Technocracy is the term used to describe the political philosophy which aims to have our world controlled not by politicians and the traditional institutions and levers of power, but by a combination of artificial Intelligence, electronic surveillance, algorithms and programmable currencies.
The aim is to totally control our sphere of daily movements, purchasing habits, ownerships, loyalties, freedoms of speech, access to goods and services and ability to travel. But lest those of us in the capitalist west think that this would be a counter to rise of communist China the plain fact is that China is and has been utilising these mechanisms of control for some years.
The world stage is now being set up for Hegelian Dialectic of ....
‘Thesis v Antitheses >>>> Synthesis’
East v West / Capitalism v Communism > Technocracy > Babylon 2.0.
But when these things begin to take place ..... (Luke 21:28)
Away beyond all of that ..... our task is the Great Commission ...... and the cry on our lips is Maranatha.
But away beyond all of that, the events of our world presage the greatest regime change of all. The attempts to gain preeminence in our world will fail; and fail spectacularly. Jesus adjured us: “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28)
As we move further into 2016 our eternal future is secure; our task is the Great Commission; our enabling power is the Holy Spirit of an almighty God and the cry on our lips is Maranatha.
