Forres Men's Breakfast Club

As an outreach to men in the Forres area, a new breakfast club has been launched which is aimed at providing a venue for men to meet, eat and listen to a range of interesting speakers. 

THE first Saturday of December saw the launch of a new group in Forres to encourage Christian men, and to hear interesting stories from local people on a variety of subjects. At this inaugural gathering of Forres Men’s Christian Fellowship, a piping-hot breakfast with all the trimmings was served.

The meeting room was full of lively ‘getting to know you’ banter amidst lashings of porridge, croissants and coffee.
Rev. Donald Prentice, the new St. Leonard’s Church of Scotland minister, gave an appropriate reading from the Bible about the responsibilities that Christians have to pray for their nation.

Rev. Prentice and his church members have enthusiastically embraced the vision of the new men’s group, and those present listened with great interest as Donald spoke of the challenges of travelling huge distances to take Bibles into Russia during the communist era.

January 8: The guest speaker will be Cath Casburn who will tell of the initiative that she is involved along with an international team of colleagues who work with prisoners on Death Row.

February 5: Joe Pickford of the national Christian Charity Hope UK who work in schools and communities 'Enabling Our Young People To Make Alcohol And Drug Free Choices'.

 Joe will give an insight as why the real facts and lifestyle choices in our formative years are critical to our futures . Barry Clarke suggests: This is a must also if you would like to introduce anybody who works with young people to the work of Hope UK. Do come if you share the concern as parents or grandparents regarding this nations high dependancy on alcohol and cigarettes(legal substances but having by far the greatest negative physical,mental and social affects leading to high mortality rates ).
The presentation will also cover the numerous and complex illegal drugs which pose serious risks to all who use them. Hope's experience is that young people are often naturally very interested and much helped by these presentations and sessions.

March 5: Brian Irvine Brian Irvine is a  former professional footballer who has played for  Scotland, Aberdeen and Ross County. He was at the top of his game and 'living the dream' when doctors delivered shattering news to him regarding his health.

Brian now works with his colleague Drew Kuzma in the Inverness-based 'Youth Inclusive' team working with young people in the Hilton area of the town.


April 2: Stuart Pickford of 'Living Waters International' telling of the international practical hands on work of the church world wide in providing meals ,dental and medical care to children.
Stuart will be speaking of his interest and practial experience in Guatemala and Albania.

Living Water International are addressing this most basic of needs by helping deprived communities acquire safe, clean water. The goal is to substantially ease the global water crisis while addressing root causes such as injustice, oppression, and abject poverty. As this happens, communities and worldviews are transformed—both among those in desperate physical need, and among those who have been blessed with much.
