Chris returns to Scotland

Chris and PatriciaChris Hyslop who worked in the Highlands with Highlands & Islands Youth for Christ (H&IYFC) in 1999, has returned to the area with his wife Patricia  to take up a similar appointment with youth ministry as a regional church growth worker.

The couple, who belong to Vancouver arrived in Scotland on 23 November. On this occasion they are leaving behind their 'children'. Chris says: "We're excited and looking forward to being back, though of course, we're also saying some difficult goodbyes. We're leaving our daughter and son-in-law here, as well as our son, who has just started his post-secondary education at a local university college.

With the appointment of Chris, H&IYFC are seeing their vision for a regional church growth worker who will encourage the development of new stles of mission appropriate for the 21st century come to fulfillment.  Chris will be working in partnership with existing H&IYFC workers in areas such as the Black Isle, Lochinver, Mallaig, Bonar Bridge/Dornoch and indeed in Inverness itself.

Chris writes: 'I'd love to share my excitement with you because I am thrilled about this amazing opportunity, and convinced that God has called us to follow Him into this adventure... I'll be helping develop new and creative ways of reaching into the world with relevant evangelism, and forming communities of faith through which previously unchurched young people can experience the good news of Jesus' love ... I'm looking forward to the things God has in store for us in Scotland.'

Chris has recently been sharing some his thoughts with Christians Together. And both he and Patricia are part of the Canadian influx of vibrant Christians to the Highlands and Islands area. They join Kevin and Deborah Andrews (Alberta) and Drew Kuzma and his family,  who are also from Alberta (Lebridge).
