in Satu Nou in Romania
Blythswood is inviting runners to participate in sponsored 10K events on Saturday 1st September at Evanton.
The event starts at 1.pppm and entries will be accepted on the day.
This is the first year the run has been held at Evanton (but the third successive year for the Drymen 10K).
Kerri Bates, a local girl, was the first woman to complete the Drymen run last year in a time of 42 minutes. Kerri said “I really enjoyed taking part in the Drymen 10K last year, especially returning to my home territory with its fantastic scenery. The run was well organized and I was greatly encouraged by the generosity of friends and family who sponsored me. I would thoroughly recommend this event to anyone who wants to get fit, have fun and raise money for a really worthwhile project."
The funds raised from the event will go towards a project Blythswood is setting up in the village of Satu Nou in Romania. As many of the old people are struggling to feed and clothe and look after themselves and often have no family to rely on, the charity is establishing an old folks’ home. It will be supported by a bakery, enabling the project to meet its running costs.
