May outreach evening to launch Tent Mission
A community outreach evening
on Sunday 20 May
in Inverness Baptist Church, Castle Street
at 8.00pm
Launching the countdown to a Tent Mission outreach in Bught Park next month will be (d.v.) a free community outreach evening being held at 8.00 pm on Sunday 20 May in Inverness Baptist Church, Castle Street. The event will include all of the ingredients of the marqueed evening rallies: uplifting singing, real-life stories, the Upper Room Gospel Choir and the Burning Issues drama group, who take part in gospel events around Scotland.
From Wednesday, 13 June until Sunday, 17 June a luxury 250-seater marquee will be the focal point for a tent mission to promote the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ through a range of exciting activities for all the family.
Organised by Perth-based People With A Mission Ministries (PWAMM) in partnership in conjunction with local churches, the Inverness tent mission aims to attract local people of all ages, whether churchgoers or not.
Evening rallies will be held at 7.30pm throughout the five-day mission in the 60ft by 40ft marquee, which boasts central heating, carpeting and quality sound system.
The line up will include praise music, stories from local people about how Jesus Christ changed their lives and preaching by a guest speaker, as well as choir and drama performances. A simultaneous programme will be held for local children at the nearby Inverness Leisure Centre. Other attractions will include a “Tea in the Marquee” for senior citizens – an afternoon of song, testimony, drama and preaching, followed by afternoon tea - and an informal family fun day on the Saturday afternoon, with a range of inflatables including a bouncy castle, giant slides, gladiator duel, as well as a free barbecue. Pastor Mervyn Milne of PWAMM said,” We’re excited about bringing the tent mission to Inverness and greatly encouraged by the vision of local Christians, which we share, to reach out into the community with Christ’s Gospel”.
The Tent Mission in Inverness follows on from a similar week in Buckie; and after the Inverness outreach the mission will move to Carluke in South Lanarkshire and then Dunvegan in Skye from 22 to 26 July 2007.
PWAMM have been holding monthly prayer luncheons in Inverness for church leaders and their spouses for over a year. Most recently these meetings have been held in the Drumossie Hotel. Other activities include outreach dinners, billboard ministry, Challenger bus community youth ministry, children’s ministry and senior citizen’s outreach
