Western Isles Update

The team returned to the mainland last week after some seven weeks of mission. It is the longest single mission we have undertaken as a Ministry. We have seen God do marvellous things over and over again.

The final few days were spent in Uig and Bernera on the west coast of Lewis. These are remote locations however this area has seen God move in revival power on numerous occasions. On the Sunday as the mission drew to a close we rejoiced to see 100 people come together for the final evening in Uig Parish Church.

Some of the families were in church for the first time in many years and there were around 20 young people in attendance. Rev Stephen Macdonald from Carloway Church of Scotland shared from Revelation 3 – “Behold, I stand at the door and knock”. The team also shared testimony to God’s grace and faithfulness.

As we think back on the weeks we have spent on the Western Isles we rejoice to think that in the nine different locations the bus has been invited, some 700 young people attended the kids clubs - almost half the population of primary aged children on the islands and at least 250 teenagers heard the message of the Gospel.

Testimonies have been forthcoming of teenagers responding to the Gospel:

“That week changed my life forever”,
“Thank you for coming – it has been really inspiring and I am now a Christian even though I never believed before”.

We give God all the Praise and Glory for the great things He has done.

Benbecula Update

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
Matthew 4:16

Challenger BusThe Challenger 4 Team arrived in Lochmaddy on Friday evening to be met by Rev Donald Campbell and his family before travelling south to Benbecula, our base for 10 days. PWAMM is working with six Church of Scotland and Free Church congregations on North Uist and Benbecula with missions in Balivanich on Benbecula and Clachan on North Uist.

Saturday was spent in meeting ministers and members of the local congregations. On Sunday we attended the local Free Church and Church of Scotland morning services before starting the outreach with our first kids club that afternoon. Weather conditions were atrocious but 15 primary children attended the first club. A further 12 teenagers came to the bus in the evening.
On Monday night we had 25 young people attend the bus with a real sense of the Holy Spirit doing a work amongst the teens.

There has been opposition to the Gospel with some children being banned from attending the bus, but there was a sense of a breakthrough yesterday, and last night over 50 young people were on the bus to watch DVDs and hear the team share testimony.

Tonight the team finish in Benbecula, with the final kids club and award ceremony/Gospel meeting. We have also agreed to hold an additional youth meeting on the bus.

One grandmother has been praying for her grandchildren who have been attending the Club. She was overjoyed to hear one of them teaching her younger sister the songs she had learned at the Club. Out of the mouths of babes and infants God has ordained praise.

Urgent Prayer
• Pray for the meetings being held tonight.
• Pray for the Holy Spirit to draw the parents and teens to the bus.
• Pray for souls to be saved.
• Pray for the team – Elizabeth, Anne, Jane, Kathleen, Jeannie, David, Dougie and Neil

Challenger Educational

Two schools have already been visited this week. Balivanich Primary and Sgoil Lionacleit the secondary school covering the islands.

There was a last minute change in that we couldn’t take the bus to Lionacleit School due to internal operational reasons. However, the headteacher asked the team to go to the school and give the presentations in class. The team also answered questions from the pupils about being a Christian and their work in PWAMM - Jeannie was also given the opportunity to play the piano for the pupils.

Pray
• For the schools being visited on Thursday and Friday – Carinish, Lochmaddy and Paible Primary Schools
