Churches work for the elderly

Community Care Forum

Inverness Community Care Forum are  compiling a directory of services which are offered to and available by the elderly in  the Inverness area. Marj Donaldson is collection the relevant information and  would be keen to learn of the contributions that local churches are making in this field of service.
This is an excellent opportunity for the Christian churches to raise awareness of what services they are making available to our senior citizens.

Inverness Community Care Directory of Services and Activities for Older People

Inverness Community Care Forum (ICCF) is gathering information for the publication of a Directory of support services for older people in the Inverness area.

ICCF is part of the Highland Community Care Forum (HCCF) network. The Forum’s role is to ensure that care service users, and carers, are involved in the design and development of care services, both their own individual care services and services in general. Further information about HCCF is available on the website www.hccf.org.uk.

As you will know there is a wide range of services and activities in the area to support older people, but it is not always easy to find out what is available. Members of ICCF have identified the need for clear information about services available in their area for people who need support with the tasks of daily living, and to maintain social contacts. With older people being the largest section of the population in need of this type of assistance, I have been contracted to gather information on services for this group.

The aim is to make information available to people in a form which is easy to understand, even for people with no previous connection to care and support services, but who may want to explore options.

We would like to include information about services/activities offered by your organisation. Anyone who runs a local lunch club, activities sessions or other services or events for older people is invited to supply the relevant information to the Forum if they would like to be included in the directory. I have attached a simple questionnaire and would be grateful if you could complete this and return it to ICCF by e-mail by Thursday 14th February (or by the end of February by the latest).

It is hoped to distribute the information gathered in the early summer, both in booklet form and online. Your help will be much appreciated.

If you have any questions about this please contact myself on:
Tel 01349 861956 or -

Mrs Kate Stephen
at HCCF on
Tel. 01463 723565

If you do NOT want to be included in the Directory please let me know, so that I do not send you reminders.

ICCF hopes to be able to develop their Directory for other groups/needs in the future.

Yours sincerely
