Faith Mission - activities and needs

Donnie Macleod and familyMost readers will be well aware of the work of the Faith Mission, and Donnie MacLeod who heads up the work in the region writes about the forthcoming Ross-shire Rallies and also the need for accommodation for summer camps.

In previous years, summer camps were held at Fortrose Academy, but as this venue is no longer available, Donnie is looking for a suitable alternative. As an outline of the activities and accommodation needs Donnie writes as follows:

Young peopleLast year we had 43 young people aged 9 -12 years at our junior camp and 30 aged 13 -16 years at our teens camp. There would also have been around 15 leaders.

Camp begins on Monday and normally runs through Saturday morning. Campers bring their own air beds bedding etc.

A reasonably well equipped kitchen is necessary as we cater for around 60 people each day. We have access to a large tent which we could erect for a dining area if space was short.

Proposed dates for 2008 are the weeks beginning 14 & 21 July but we can be flexible.

Inverness area would be ideal. However we would be prepared to travel further a field if necessary as long as we are reasonably close to places/activities that would be suitable for afternoon outings e.g. swimming pool, ice rink, theme park, boating etc. Some centres have very good facilities on site but they seem to be booked and often too expensive for us. I have enquired after one or two places in the Perth area.

If you can help or need any other info please let me know.

==========

Concerning forthcoming Ross-shire Rallies to which everyone is welcome to come, Donnie gives the following information:-

At Faith Mission Rallies we sing from our hymn book 'Songs of Victory', share up-to-date reports about our work in the region which includes; missions, door to door visitation, school assemblies, clubs, camps etc. We normally have a visiting speaker bringing ministry more suited to Christians, and sometimes a singer.

Balintore is a little different as it is a united service with a Gospel message.

There will be a bookstall available on week nights.
