Economic Downsizing
I was recently told that my position was no longer needed at my church due to the economy. Our church has just added a new building for the express purpose of education and student ministry. To pay for the building, the board took my position as Christian Education and Student Ministry Pastor to accomplish this. The amount they save in letting me go falls far short of the needed amount. I would appreciate prayers for employment and for my family during this difficult time.

Dear Andrew

What a difficult situation for you. I will certainly pray for you and your family.

Yours in Christ

Just an update: It has been 8 months now and still no work. It seems that over 25 yrs of ministry equates to no legitimate work experience anymore here in the U.S.

I'm sorry for you Andrew. I'm a bit miffed at a church who can build a 'another' building and sacrifice a persons job to do it. God forgive them. I hope something comes up for you soon. Let us agree in prayer.

Are you an ordained minister and, if so, for what denomination?

I hear of economic downsizing in churches here in Scoland, but simply through reduced income, not to pay for building projects!

I am Baptist by ordination but am currently attending an evangelical presbyterian church in the town where we are staying.

Shame - our CofS parish is vacant just now.

Just to update everyone here. After 1 year and 1 month of being out of work, I was called to a church as pastor in Wyoming. This is an answer to many prayers. Thank you.

I am sure that your waiting time wasn't wasted in God's overall plan :)
