Dear Friend,
‘Good News Youth Alpha is coming to Tain’
I am very pleased to announce that the Tain Youth Cafe YMCA, with local church support, is arranging a Youth Alpha course starting in January 2008. This will be a pilot programme and if successful we will be able to run more, having learned from this first attempt.
This as many of you will know is something we have wanted to do here at the Youth Café for quite a while and at long last is going to happen ‘Praise the Lord’ I have set out some basic details for you below and have indicated for you what we require from you starting now.
- This will be a 10 week programme held on Wednesday evenings at the Youth Café
- This will start on Wednesday 16th January and finishing on Wednesday 19th March 2008, which is Easter week.
- We will be targeting young people aged 15-18
- There will be no cost to the participants however; if local Churches would like to make a contribution to this programme then this would be welcomed as we have to provide food and materials for the group, it is our intention to provide each participant with a Bible.
- The evenings will follow the programme as organised by Youth Alpha and consist of a meal together, a clip from a DVD and then discussion groups. There will be volunteers to oversee this programme each week and these have all been or are going through the relevant Police checks as you are reading this letter.
- There will either be a Day together or possibly a Weekend at the end of the programme focusing on the work of the Holy spirit.
So what do we need from you? Simply just three things:
1. Identify a contact person from your church who we can send a Prayer letter to about Youth Alpha as we need to start praying now for this programme. I would be grateful if you could complete the reply slip attached, phone me at the Youth Café or e-mail me with the contact persons details to receive the Prayer letters which are planning to send out.
2. Identify young people aged 15-18 or slightly younger if you feel they are ready for this programme and submit their names to me at the Tain Youth Café.
3. Identify what resources you could offer to help run this programme.
We hope that you are enthused about this opportunity just like we are; about being able to share the Gospel with the young people from this area and begin praying and identifying which young people you would like us to invite to this Youth Alpha course. If you require any further information and Youth Alpha or what we are proposing then please contact either me at the Youth Café or the Rev David or Fena Scott at the Church of Scotland Manse.
Blessings in Christ

Hi Ben, if you are referring to David Scott who used to be at Logie's St John's Church in Dundee, I understand he is now ministering at a Inshes Church in Inverness. His telephone number according to their website is 01463 772402.
Trust this helps. Every blessing in Christ.

I wouldn't quite say that the Alpha Course is Rome inspired, I'd decribe their common bond a little differently - I would say that both Rome and Alpha issue from the same father....and the family likeness between the two can be easily discerned by those who share a different Father. There are many books and booklets which expose the error and deception of the Alpha course, the one wich I have is: Alpha - the unofficial guide - an overview by Elizabeth McDonald & Dusty Peterson published by MSP - ISBN 1901546209

The reson i ask is because Nicky Gumbel who founded this course worshipped the pope and there are photographs of him doing so on the internet so i think we should warn people against this false movement?

John L, if you wish to continue to post and discuss this issue please either make yourself known to me or register with this site, as I am having to delete a number of anonymous (or psuedonymous) postings which are of a harsh, judgemental (in the wrong sense of that word) and critical spirit. Thank you!

Thanx editor I may reister soon. I have read many comments on this site but surely we must judge? According to John 7.24 we must judge@? Judgment is harsh? Ask many who have been judged?
